Pulse on Netflix: Season 2 Update

Pulse Season 2: Will Netflix Renew the Medical Drama? Here’s Everything We Know

Netflix’s latest foray into the world of hospital dramas has taken viewers by surprise. Pulse, which premiered globally on April 3, 2025, has quickly found an audience captivated by its blend of emotional storytelling, high-stakes medicine, and deeply personal character arcs. But with just one season available, many fans are already asking: Will there be a Season 2?

Here’s a full breakdown of what we know so far about the future of Pulse on Netflix.

What Is Pulse About?

Set in Maguire Hospital, a fictional high-pressure trauma center in Miami, Pulse follows the lives of doctors, nurses, and staff trying to navigate personal challenges and professional emergencies—often at the same time

At the heart of the story is Dr. Danielle “Danny” Simms, played by Willa Fitzgerald, a gifted yet emotionally guarded physician returning to the hospital after a personal crisis. Her return sparks tension, especially with Dr. Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell), an ambitious colleague with whom she shares a complicated past.

Season 1 unpacks not only the life-and-death decisions happening inside the ER, but also the messy, nuanced lives of the people working there. It ends with major shifts in hospital leadership, the exposure of old wounds, and plenty of unresolved threads—perfect material for a second season.

Has Netflix Renewed Pulse for Season 2?

Not yet. As of April 7, 2025, Netflix has not officially announced a renewal for Pulse. That said, the show has been generating buzz across social media and industry circles. Viewer reception has been generally positive, with many praising the performances and the show’s mature approach to modern healthcare ethics, relationships, and systemic challenges.

It’s not uncommon for Netflix to wait a few weeks—or even a couple of months—after a premiere before announcing a renewal. The platform often looks at a combination of metrics, including total viewing hours, completion rates, and social engagement before making a decision.

What the Creators Are Saying

Even though there’s no formal greenlight, the show’s creative team is already thinking ahead. Executive Producer Carlton Cuse (Lost, Jack Ryan) recently teased what a second season could look like, stating:

“We’ve built a world full of complex, layered characters. There’s so much more we want to explore—not just with Danny and Xander, but across the entire ensemble.”

Cuse’s comments suggest that Season 2 would zoom out to focus more on the broader staff of Maguire Hospital, deepening storylines for the supporting cast and introducing new challenges both inside and outside the ER.

Who’s Expected to Return?

If Pulse gets picked up for a second season, here’s who we can expect to see back in action:

  • Willa Fitzgerald as Dr. Danielle “Danny” Simms
  • Colin Woodell as Dr. Xander Phillips
  • Jessie T. Usher as Dr. Sam Elijah
  • Justina Machado as Dr. Natalie Cruz
  • J.R. Ramirez as Dr. Patrick Sanchez

Given the show’s ensemble format, it’s likely that new characters will be added to shake things up—whether through new hires, hospital politics, or surprise guests from the characters’ pasts.

When Could Season 2 Be Released?

If Netflix does renew Pulse in the next couple of months, production could realistically begin by late 2025. That would place the potential release window for Season 2 sometime in early to mid-2026. This would align with Netflix’s typical 12–15 month cycle for scripted dramas.
