CoComelon moves from Netflix to Disney+ in 2027

Disney+ Acquires CoComelon Streaming Rights from Netflix Starting 2027

In a major shift for children’s streaming content, the hit preschool series CoComelon will move from Netflix to Disney+ beginning January 2027. Disney has obtained exclusive worldwide streaming rights for all eight seasons of the show, which had been a fixture on Netflix since 2020.

Despite being the second most-watched show on Netflix in 2023, drawing over 600 million views, CoComelon has seen a noticeable drop in viewership—declining nearly 60% in recent years. This trend influenced Netflix’s decision to let the licensing deal expire. Disney, however, sees long-term value in the brand and is reportedly investing tens of millions of dollars annually to secure the franchise.

The timing of the streaming shift aligns with the planned release of the first-ever CoComelon feature film, slated for 2027. The movie is a collaboration between Moonbug Entertainment and Universal Pictures. While the original series will leave Netflix, some related content—such as Blippi and the spin-off CoComelon Lane—will remain on the platform. The latter focuses on storytelling with an emphasis on emotional and social learning for preschool-aged children.

Families around the world can still access CoComelon via its YouTube channel, which continues to release fresh content regularly. The show will also remain on various international TV networks, such as SAB TV in Pakistan and Tiny Pop in the United Kingdom.

This move strengthens Disney+’s already robust catalog of kids’ programming, joining other preschool favorites like Bluey and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, as the platform continues to expand its appeal to young audiences globally.
