Netflix’s All of Us Are Dead returns Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Netflix’s “All of Us Are Dead” returns for a second season

Netflix’s South Korean zombie thriller All of Us Are Dead took the world by storm when it premiered in January 2022, becoming one of the platform’s most-watched non-English series of all time. With its gripping high school setting, emotionally raw storytelling, and terrifyingly fast zombies, it quickly amassed a global fan base — especially in the United States.

Now, over three years later, fans are eagerly waiting for any real progress on Season 2, which was officially renewed but remains stuck in development limbo.

Season 2 Was Confirmed — But Where Is It?

Netflix announced Season 2 during Geeked Week in June 2022, sharing a short teaser and confirming the return of key characters like Nam-ra. However, fast forward to mid-2025, and the situation remains frustratingly vague.

There’s no trailer, no official release date, and as of early 2025, filming hadn’t even begun. According to multiple reports and fan discussions on Reddit, Netflix US hasn’t received updates from the production team — and in fact, hadn’t even finalized licensing for Season 2 as of May 2024.

“There’s been no production movement… I don’t think filming has started.”

Why the Delay?

K-dramas are often run more like films than seasonal TV — with longer development cycles and director-driven vision. Director Lee Jae-gyu, who also worked on Trap and Daily Dose of Sunshine, is reportedly focused on other projects, causing delays.

Additionally:

  • Several lead actors are aging out of their teen roles.
  • Some actors are serving in South Korea’s mandatory military service.
  • No confirmed script reading or production photos have surfaced.

All of these factors have left Season 2 in what fans call “development hell.”

Who’s Returning?

While the full cast list hasn’t been officially confirmed, here’s what we know:

  • Park Ji-hu (On-jo) – expected to return.
  • Yoon Chan-young (Cheong-san) – teased to return despite his ambiguous fate.
  • Cho Yi-hyun (Nam-ra) – confirmed in the original teaser.
  • Lomon (Su-hyeok) – likely returning.
  • Roh Yoon-seo – reportedly not returning for Season 2.
  • Yoo In-soo (Gwi-nam) – status unclear due to military enlistment.

What Will Season 2 Be About?

Director Lee Jae-gyu has hinted that Season 2 will explore zombie hybrids and flip the perspective — with zombies becoming central characters, not just threats.

Expect:

  • A darker tone.
  • A fallen Seoul setting.
  • Exploration of Nam-ra’s hybrid condition and other evolved infected survivors.
  • A possible time skip, given the cast’s age and delays.

Fan Reactions: From Hype to Concern

Fans in the US have gone from excited to anxious — and some even skeptical the season will ever come.

  • Reddit threads reflect growing concern:
  • “It might release in 2026 if filming starts soon — otherwise, who knows?”
  • “By the time it comes out, the kids won’t look like high schoolers anymore.”
  • “I hope they don’t cancel it. This show had so much potential.”

The lack of updates, trailers, or marketing even within Netflix US’s upcoming lineup has only amplified doubts.

Realistic Release Date?

Based on what we know:

  • Earliest possible release: Late 2026
  • More realistic window: Sometime in 2027
  • Worst-case: indefinite hold or silent cancellation

Netflix has remained silent on new production updates in both Korea and the US, and fans are left refreshing forums and news sites for crumbs of news.
