Wednesday: Season 2 | Official Teaser Trailer on Netflix

Netflix has officially released the teaser trailer for Wednesday Season 2, set to premiere in two parts: Part 1 on August 6, 2025, and Part 2 on September 3, 2025. The teaser offers a glimpse into Wednesday Addams’ return to Nevermore Academy, hinting at new supernatural mysteries and the involvement of the entire Addams family. Notably, Morticia warns that family secrets can have deadly consequences, setting a darker tone for the upcoming season.

Jenna Ortega reprises her role as Wednesday Addams and also serves as a producer this season. The cast includes returning members Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Emma Myers, along with new additions such as Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, and Haley Joel Osment. The season is expected to delve deeper into character arcs and explore more of the Addams family’s history.

Behind the Story of Wednesday Season 2

After the massive success of Wednesday Season 1, which became one of Netflix’s most-watched series globally, the pressure was on to deliver a darker, more layered follow-up. Behind the scenes, the team set out to expand the Addams Family universe while staying true to its gothic roots.

  1. Jenna Ortega’s Bigger Role Jenna Ortega not only returns as the sharp, deadpan Wednesday Addams — she’s also stepping into the producer’s seat. Her creative input reportedly influenced everything from story arcs to costume decisions. She has pushed for Wednesday to have more agency and complexity, exploring both her darker instincts and emotional evolution.
  2. Deeper Family Dynamics Season 2 dives into the Addams family’s secrets, with more screen time for Morticia and Gomez. Expect flashbacks, cryptic warnings, and hidden family legacies. Morticia’s ominous line in the teaser — “family secrets can have deadly consequences” — hints at revelations that will shake the foundation of Nevermore Academy.
  3. New Characters, New Trouble Steve Buscemi is joining the cast in a mysterious role rumored to be tied to the academy’s secret past. Thandiwe Newton and Haley Joel Osment also step in as faculty and town outsiders, bringing both charm and chaos. Their characters reportedly challenge Nevermore’s traditions and force Wednesday to confront truths she’d rather ignore.
  4. The Look and Feel The show’s aesthetic is taking a slightly more cinematic turn in Season 2. The production team is drawing inspiration from gothic literature and 1970s horror, with moodier lighting, darker costumes, and even more elaborate set pieces.
  5. Filming Secrets Most of the show is being filmed in Romania again, where castles, forests, and eerie architecture provide the perfect backdrop. Rumors suggest that one major setpiece — a masquerade ball — was filmed in an actual 13th-century castle by candlelight for maximum creep factor.
